PDF Redaction
Permanently cover selected PDF areas in a fresh image-only copy, then verify the generated output before download.
A new image-only copy
Every page becomes an image. The copy will not preserve selectable or searchable text, interactive links, forms, native vector scalability, or source metadata, attachments and comments.
You choose what to remove. Unmarked visible information remains. ToolNest does not find sensitive information for you.
Files stay on your device. 10 pages maximum · 20 MiB input/output · fixed 200 DPI export.Best on desktop Chrome or Edge. Performance depends on available memory. If processing stalls, close other tabs or try a shorter document.
PDF Redaction FAQs
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. Your PDF, marked areas, generated copy and verification stay in your browser. Desktop Chrome or Edge is required for this version.
What does redaction remove?
ToolNest replaces pixels within the rectangles you mark, rebuilds every page as a fresh image, and checks the actual generated PDF. Unmarked visible information remains; ToolNest does not find sensitive information automatically.
What will the copy lose?
The image-only copy loses selectable and searchable text, interactive links, native vector scalability, metadata, attachments, comments and other interactive structures. Forms and layer PDFs are refused rather than converted.
What do the supported checks prove?
They check the restricted fresh image-only format, page geometry, complete masked pixels, preservation of unmarked raster pixels, and absence of inherited text and interactive structures. They are not a universal forensic guarantee or a claim that all sensitive information was found.
Can I use a signed or password-protected PDF?
No. PDFs with digital signature structures, unknown signature safety, encryption, forms or optional layers are refused. ToolNest does not validate signatures cryptographically.
